BARIKADA

25 Nov

Barikada (Barricade) is a short film produced by Tudla Productions.

After months of shooting, post production, criticism, revisions, shooting and post production (repeat 3x), we will be launching the film tomorrow (finally!), November 26, 2011 at the Bantayog ng mga Bayani Auditorium, Quezon Avenue, Quezon City, at 3:00 P.M. and 5:00 P.M.  Everybody is welcome but seats are limited so better come early.

This is the first time that the group produced a narrative film. Almost all of the cast of this film are from the community of Corazon de Jesus, San Juan City.

Here’s the synopsis:

Cora, wife of Joel and mother to Michelle, has devoted her time in the organized resistance of her community against the demolition of their homes to give way to infrastructure projects of the government. Many like-minded neighbours plan to put up a barricade come demolition day. Three days before the demolition, the community comes face to face with the mounting pressures of their struggle: neighbours succumbing to despair, government unheeding of their demands, etc. The community went on the fight realizing they have more to lose without it.

Enjoy the trailer and music video!

I’ll post about the creation of this film after the launch. :-)
